Main Purpose of the role
To enable learners, through guidance and support, to achieve their aspirations and goals. To deliver effective teaching, learning and support to learners. To evidence progression against targets set in negotiation with the learner to meet their individual needs. To contribute to EHCP Annual Reviews (where applicable) to ensure that progression towards educational outcomes is being addressed.
Key Responsibilities and duties
· Deliver engaging and creative learning to meet the needs of the learner including those with barriers to learning. This could be a blend of remote, classroom, 121 or on site.
· Deliver learning and evidence progression to meet the targets set for the learner to enable learners to meet or exceed their goals
· Motivate, enable and drive learners to achieve their goals through outstanding teaching and learning
· Create individual support plans tailored to learner’s individual needs considering results of assessments
· Provide pastoral support to learners as required to aid engagement & achievement of their goals
· Deliver and facilitate teaching, learning and support that encourages accelerated and autonomous learning
· Deliver a consistently high standard of performance – quality driven.
Skills and Qualifications
· Good standard of general education including 5 GCSEs - English and Maths at grade C or above or equivalent, or a willingness to work towards Functional Skills Level 2 in English and Maths, within a given timeframe.
· Understanding of EHC Plans and Annual Review process
· AET (Level 3) or an equivalent Teaching/Training qualification or willing to work towards
· Experience of and a proven track record of working with learners with SEND
Desirable Skills
· Recognised teaching qualification at level 3 or above
· Appropriate SEND/Learning Difficulties and or Disabilities qualification/CPD
· Experience in development of delivery/curriculum materials
· Knowledge of Government Funding
· Relevant occupational experience/knowledge
· Relevant Post16 sector experience
