Site Location: Coventry

Rate: £40.00 per hour

Duration: 6 Month contract

Position Summary

Provides expertise and project management to support optimization installation and Production acceptance testing and validation for new oil and fuel flow Rigs in the Assembly and test area for Heat Exchangers. Manufacturing and Production reliability, maintainability, and safety parameters.

Key Tasks

  • Understand all aspects of production engineering and process engineering.
  • Oversee design of specialised tooling for manufacturing processes and the control of existing & new tooling drawings
  • Identify, project manage and implement process improvements within respective area and, where required, across the factory. (HSE,CI, NPI)
  • Good knowledge of instrumentation, calibration, and data logging
  • Experience in the construction and operation of production acceptance test rigs (oil and fuel flow, fuel flushing, hydraulic proof pressure etc)
  • Test rig / machine programming (Labview) knowledge and understanding.
  • Assist the Project Engineering team to prepare Development, Certification and Production Acceptance Test procedures.
  • Utilise modern manufacturing tools including value stream mapping, CI, 5S, RCCA, lean manufacturing, plus the implementation/utilisation of TPM for improving process capability of machinery.
  • Develop Assembly Procedures and standard work instructions in support of the manufacturing areas (creating new, and updating existing procedures)
  • Provide technical support to Engineering, Quality, and the manufacturing cells to resolve production problems with minimum loss in production.
  • Identify the most cost-effective methods of manufacture, thereby reducing costs, through investment in capital equipment and development of processes, both internally and with suppliers.
  • Improves manufacturing efficiency by analysing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
  • Develops manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors.
  • Provides manufacturing decision-making information via OEE by calculating production, labour, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements.
  • Keeps equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services; following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures; requesting special service.
  • Develop standard costings and carry out work measurement to establish process times.
  • Use the company business system to develop and control product routings for new and existing parts.
  • Involvement with New Product Introduction (NPI) projects to promote DFM disciplines, agree manufacturing methods for hardware and, where required, develop new manufacturing techniques for innovative product designs.
  • Generate CAM CNC programs from 3D models for processing on 3, 4 & 5 axis machines to include the provision for all jigs, fixtures & tooling requirements. Manage through prove-out & FAIR to full series production.
  • Ability to use Sold-works CAD to model and draft desirable.
