Job purpose
Under the direction of the Project Lead, plan, manage and design buildings and land areas with regard to functional and aesthetic requirements, budgets and timescales. Support the project by undertaking various project roles that are intended to create further opportunities for your own knowledge and career development (e.g BIM Author / Spec Writer)

    Understand sector-specific requirements for commonly adopted building standards for delivering fire
safety on your project(s)

Key responsibilities
    Role model the clients values in both your leadership and how you go about your work
    Develop and maintain a network of professional contacts and attend relevant industry events to promote our services
    Be an effective team member. Understand where your skillset fits within the team and collaborate with your colleagues to achieve best outcomes for the project
    Support and mentor junior staff, including apprentices and trainee students
    Take receipt of a brief from a Client, and with only limited intervention from them, develop it into a design or package of work in line with the RIBA Plan of Work
    Contribute to and help co-ordinate the development of Pre-Construction Information in line with the RIBA Plan of Work and Deliverables and DRM
    Achieve efficient and effective construction detailing using robust and sustainable design solutions.
    Under the supervision of the Project Lead, learn how to produce compliant designs and assist in their
delivery. Apply this learning to your outputs
    Under the supervision of the Project Lead, learn how to select appropriate materials for the works. Apply knowledge to your outputs
    Under the supervision of the project Lead, learn the value of materials specifications and support the project team in sourcing reference material
    Assist the Project Team with designing to a budget. On instruction, assist with value-engineering
    Participate in Project Reviews and coordination workshops
    Undertake proper and sufficient checking of self-authored information prior to forwarding to the
Project Lead for approval (or direct to the Client)
    Assist in gathering and preparing information required to support statutory submissions, such as Planning, Building Regulations and Building Safety Gateways
    Negotiate with statutory bodies, write reports and complete statutory submissions (planning applications / Gateway submissions / building regulations etc)
Attend and chair (where necessary) meetings and workshops with Clients, Designers, Contractors, and other specialists. Where appropriate, formally produce and record accurate minutes, along with issuing in a timely manner and completing actions where required
    Support the Contractor in troubleshooting problems associated with the design
    Support the Contractor in troubleshooting problems associated with the design
    Ensure that the AHR design is safe to construct, to occupy and to maintain 
    Complete and maintain Design Risk Registers for the AHR proposals. Mitigate  design risk and ensure compliance with the CDM Regulations
    Support the Project Lead with the maintenance of the Design Risk Registers
    Support your project team with Document Control activities
    Use Document Control on your project(s) in line with Protocols
    Participate in delivering the BIM in line with ISO (phone number removed). Develop the Deliverables in line with the requirements of the BEP and coordinate your outputs before issuing to others
    Contribute to the development of the native 3D model
    Create and issue 2D drawings and schedules directly from the native 3D model
    Intermediate BIM content creation, in line with AHR BIM Standards and guidelines
    Apply library Revit content on a project basis, in line with BIM Standards and good working practice
    Implement Revit model linking in accordance with project needs and  protocols
    Undertake complex modelling tasks including stairs, handrails, topography, bespoke curtain walling etc.
    Undertake regular quality control reviews, actively promoting good model health and best practice
    Leverage all available BIM resources (plugins and workflows) to ensure lean, efficient working methods at all times
    Assist with project set-up tasks, including: Establishing core models from AHR templates
    Establishing project shared coordinates between all models
    Implementing project deliverables between Revit and Newforma
    Establishing data links between Revit models and Newforma (Models, Sheets etc.)
    Undertake regular model maintenance tasks, including model audits and reviews
    Establish clear and consistent model issuing processes in line with AHR Standards
    Create, implement and manage Revit content on a project basis in line with AHR BIM Standards and good working practice
    Source technical information that ensures that the components, elements and systems in your charge are accurate and fit for purpose
Skills and experience
    Working towards CIAT-qualified with a degree in Architectural Technology
    Professionally registered as a member with CIAT, RICS or similar
UK-qualified, or minimum 1 year post-qualification experience gained within a UK-based architectural or surveying practice
    Familiarity with SketchUp, Photoshop, InDesign, Rendering packages, Word and Excel software
    Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
    Knowledge of SketchUp, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and other digital imaging tools
    Routine use of Newforma Project Center for managing email, creating, issuing and preserving record documents and sharing files
    Intermediate working knowledge and experience of model authoring in Revit 
    Good levels of self-organisation, with the ability to plan, organise and manage workflows
    Able to work collaboratively and effectively as a team member and with minimum supervision
    Able to plan and organise personal time, and work effectively to meet deadlines and manage priorities with minimum supervision
    Able to work under reasonable work-related pressure and maintain excellent attention to detail, whilst also dealing with conflict in a calm and patient manner
    Able to communicate effectively in verbal, written and drawn formats using appropriate media for different audiences both internally and externally
    A well-respected, excellent communicator, who is able to promote the need for good service delivery to a wide variety of audiences
    Patient and pragmatic, with the ability to resolve conflict through diplomacy and logic
    A sound understanding of commonly used construction methodologies and the ability to detail them
    Self-motivated, methodical and reliable with a postive and proactive attitude
    A flexible approach and ability to cope with the varying demands of the role
    Display enthusiasm and is able to motivate other team members and have the willingness to be able to assist team members during periods  where necessary
