Our client based in North West London are currently recruiting for a Building Control Surveyor to join their team as soon as possible.

This is a full time, temporary position working within the Housing Sector and the ideal candidate must have experience working within building control.

The purpose of the role is to is be responsible for the scrutiny of full plans applications, Building Notices and Regularisation Applications for compliance with the Building Regulation, the Building Act and other relevant legislation including examination of structural details and calculations.

Responsibilities:

  • To demonstrate a commitment to the Council's Equal Opportunities Policy and the ability to understand and implement the policy in relation to the job responsibilities
  • To ensure compliance with your responsibilities as laid out in the council's health and safety policy and take an active role in promoting a positive health and safety culture.
  • To promote and participate in the council's individual performance appraisal and development initiatives and information management best practice.
  • To ensure compliance with the council's information security policies and maintain confidentiality.
  • In accordance with the Immigration Act 2016, where the role is customer-facing and the post holder is required to speak to members of the public, the ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post

Requirements:

  • An understanding of the Council's Equal Opportunity policy in relation to employment, and an awareness of the implications of that policy for this job.
  • A detailed working knowledge of current Building Control practice procedures and legislation.
  • A detailed working knowledge of more complex construction techniques.
  • Ability to organise workload, to establish priorities for action, and to delegate duties in order to carry out the necessary work within statutory deadlines.
  • Ability to prepare accurate and detailed reports on site inspections
  • Ability to negotiate with applicants and developers in order to achieve compliance with statutory requirements
  • Ability to present information, verbally and in writing on Building Regulations applications, and other matters in a manner which clearly demonstrates a thorough structured, logical, and orderly approach.

If interested, our client is looking to move quickly and are therefore offering a salary of between £70 - £78 per hour based on experience and suitability.

This role is inside IR35 and therefore hourly Rate is applicable as an Umbrella Rate.
