Key Tasks and Responsibilities

Undertake survey works for condition, dilapidations, site appraisal etc. and produce reports for same.

Take a lead role/assist in the production of condition reports.

Preparation of and negotiation of dilapidation claims.

Provide tender documentation, obtain tenders and undertake the role of Contract Administrator.

Undertake the role of Principal Designer pursuant to CDM Regulations 2015 – training provided where applicable.

Produce plans and specifications for Building and Civil Engineering work, including dealing with planning issues etc.

Manage Building and Civil Engineering contracts.

To undertake all works in accordance with the firms QA procedures.

To utilise and develop the firms computerised systems.

To advise the Partner, Associate or Senior Surveyor of disputes with contractors as and when they arise.

To work in a team in undertaking the Practice’s business.

Undertake liaison with other members of construction teams as and when required to efficiently undertake the Practice’s work.

To comply with existing and future legislation relating to the work being undertaken.

To comply with the firms Health & Safety Policy

To represent and promote the Practice at meetings when called upon to do so.

To represent and promote the Practice at all times

Personal Requirements

Type of Experience:

Minimum of four years post qualification experience as a fully qualified Building Surveyor. Specific knowledge and experience of working with JCT forms and other forms of contract. Previous experience working with Government or Local Authority funded bodies is desirable.

Qualifications:

Minimum BSc in Building Surveying.

Contact with People:

The post holder will have contact with the practice’s clients and other members of the construction team at a senior level.

Accountability:

Responsible for the financial control of significant/substantial budgets working under the minimal supervision of the Partner in charge of the scheme.

Managerial and Supervisory Responsibility:

Responsible for ensuring the quality of junior staff’s work. At times will be required to work as team leader on small team projects.
